Ethyl acetate ¹³C NMR: C=O δ 171, OCH₂ δ 60, CH₃C=O δ 21, CH₃ δ 14 (CDCl₃ triplet at 77.2), with a ¹³C chemical-shift ranges chart on the same axis.

What the template shows

  • Four carbon environments, four singlets (proton-decoupled), on the 220 → 0 ppm scale with the shift-range chart below
  • Spectrum (CDCl₃, 100 MHz, typical values) and shift ranges
  • δ / ppm (¹³C, proton-decoupled)
  • ethyl acetate, C₄H₈O₂
  • why there
  • ester carbonyl (155–185); quaternary C: small peak
  • Typical ¹³C chemical shifts
  • Ketone, aldehyde C=O
  • Acid, ester, amide C=O
  • RCO₂H, RCO₂R′, RCONR₂
  • alcohol, ether, ester
  • Number of signals = number of carbon environments (4 here). Spectra are normally proton-decoupled, so every carbon is a singlet.
  • Peak heights are not proportional to the number of carbons; quaternary C (C=O here) are usually small.
  • The ¹³C range is about 0–220 ppm, so signals rarely overlap.
  • C=O of acids, esters and amides: 155–185; ketones and aldehydes: 185–220.
  • The CDCl₃ solvent gives a 1:1:1 triplet at δ 77.2 (coupling to ²H, spin 1).
  • Simulate and compare spectra in the free MolDraw NMR viewer (moldraw.com/tools/nmr-viewer).
  • Typical literature values; compare real spectra in SDBS · every part of this figure is editable

Frequently asked questions

Is the ¹³C NMR of ethyl acetate template free?

You can preview the ¹³C NMR of ethyl acetate template here and open and edit it in MolDraw for free. Downloading or exporting it is part of MolDraw Pro, together with the other premium templates.

Can I edit the ¹³C NMR of ethyl acetate template?

Yes. It opens as an ordinary MolDraw drawing, so every structure, arrow, label and colour can be changed, and you can add your own content around it.

Is the chemistry checked?

Every structure is checked with RDKit and every curly arrow passes MolDraw’s electron-flow audit. The sources used are listed on this page.

Are the spectra real data?

The spectra are schematic, drawn to the standard chemical shifts, splitting patterns and absorptions given in textbooks, so they are clear for teaching and exam practice.
