What the template shows

- Every carbon has one axial bond (parallel to the ring axis, alternately up and down) and one equatorial bond (roughly in the ring plane, pointing outwards).
- Each equatorial bond is parallel to the ring bonds once removed from it: draw the chair with three pairs of parallel lines.
- A ring flip (through half-chair and twist-boat forms, barrier about 43 kJ mol⁻¹) makes every axial bond equatorial and vice versa; a group that points up still points up.
- The chair has no angle strain (ring angles about 111°) and every C–C bond is staggered.
