Gas from Kipp's apparatus template

Premium template. Preview and edit it free in MolDraw; downloading and exporting it is part of MolDraw Pro.
Kipp's apparatus (marble chips and dilute HCl), a Drechsel bottle of water, and a gas jar filled by downward delivery.
What the template shows
- A steady supply of CO₂ on demand, washed and collected in a gas jar
- Drechsel bottle
- Dilute HCl
- Poured in at the top bulb
- Marble chips
- CaCO₃ + 2HCl → CaCl₂ + H₂O + CO₂ (zinc and acid give H₂)
- Self-stopping
- Close the tap: gas pressure pushes the acid down off the chips and the reaction stops
- Washed CO₂ (the water takes out HCl spray) is denser than air, so it fills from the bottom up; full when a lit splint goes out at the mouth
- Reaction setup
