Graphene template

Graphene template: Pristine graphene sheet, Kekulé bonds, ready to edit or extend.

Free template. Download it, or open it in MolDraw to change it first.

Pristine graphene sheet, Kekulé bonds, ready to edit or extend.

What the template shows

  • A single layer of sp² carbon atoms in a hexagonal (honeycomb) lattice
  • C–C bond length 1.42 Å; every carbon is sp² with one delocalised π electron
  • Zero band-gap semimetal with very high electron mobility and thermal conductivity
  • Made by mechanical exfoliation, CVD on Cu or Ni, or reduction of graphene oxide

Drawn with 68 atoms, 1 shape – every one editable in MolDraw.

How to use this template

  1. Press Edit in MolDraw. The template opens on the canvas of the free MolDraw editor.
  2. Change anything: move structures, edit atoms and labels, recolour highlights or delete what you do not need.
  3. Add your own structures, arrows and text next to it, or combine several templates on one page.
  4. Export the drawing as PNG, SVG or PDF for slides, worksheets, theses and papers.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Graphene template free?

Yes. The Graphene template is one of the free MolDraw templates: open it in the editor or download it from this page as SVG or PNG and use it in your slides, worksheets and notes.

Can I edit the Graphene template?

Yes. It opens as an ordinary MolDraw drawing, so every structure, arrow, label and colour can be changed, and you can add your own content around it.

Is the chemistry checked?

Every structure is checked with RDKit and every curly arrow passes MolDraw’s electron-flow audit. Report anything that looks wrong from the Feedback button in the app.

What is the difference between GO and rGO?

Graphene oxide carries oxygen groups (epoxides, hydroxyls, carboxylic acids) on the carbon sheet; reduction removes most of them to give reduced graphene oxide, which conducts much better.
