Graphene oxide (GO) template
Free template. Download it, or open it in MolDraw to change it first.
Graphene oxide sheet (Lerf–Klinowski model): basal epoxide/OH, edge carbonyl and carboxyl groups.
What the template shows
- Graphene with oxygen groups: epoxide and OH on the basal plane, C=O and COOH at the edges
- Made by oxidising graphite (Hummers method: KMnO₄ / H₂SO₄) and exfoliating in water
- Hydrophilic and dispersible in water; electrically insulating (sp³ carbons break the π system)
- Edge COOH groups are the usual handles for coupling drugs, dyes or polymers
Drawn with 117 atoms, 1 shape – every one editable in MolDraw.
How to use this template
- Press Edit in MolDraw. The template opens on the canvas of the free MolDraw editor.
- Change anything: move structures, edit atoms and labels, recolour highlights or delete what you do not need.
- Add your own structures, arrows and text next to it, or combine several templates on one page.
- Export the drawing as PNG, SVG or PDF for slides, worksheets, theses and papers.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Graphene oxide (GO) template free?
Yes. The Graphene oxide (GO) template is one of the free MolDraw templates: open it in the editor or download it from this page as SVG or PNG and use it in your slides, worksheets and notes.
Can I edit the Graphene oxide (GO) template?
Yes. It opens as an ordinary MolDraw drawing, so every structure, arrow, label and colour can be changed, and you can add your own content around it.
Is the chemistry checked?
Every structure is checked with RDKit and every curly arrow passes MolDraw’s electron-flow audit. Report anything that looks wrong from the Feedback button in the app.
What is the difference between GO and rGO?
Graphene oxide carries oxygen groups (epoxides, hydroxyls, carboxylic acids) on the carbon sheet; reduction removes most of them to give reduced graphene oxide, which conducts much better.
