GCSE / high school; A-level / AP / IB Biology. ## What the template shows - Transfer bacteria without contaminating the culture, the plate or yourself - Broth culture - Remove the plug or cap with your little finger, flame the neck, take a loopful, flame the neck again - Flamed loop - Red hot to sterilise; cool for a few seconds before touching the culture - Bunsen burner - Blue flame; the updraught carries airborne microbes away from the work. Wipe the bench with disinfectant before and after; wash hands - Nutrient agar plate - Lift the lid at an angle, only just enough to streak; replace at once - Tape and incubate - Two strips of tape, not sealed all round (keeps air in, so no anaerobes).
