# Designs and tabs

> Each tab above the canvas is one design. Click + to open a new tab, click a tab name to rename it, and click × to close it. Open My designs to search, rename, duplicate, delete, download or sort designs into folders.

## Document tabs

The tab bar sits above the canvas. Each tab is one design with its own undo history and style.

1. Click **+** at the end of the tab bar to start a new design tab. The [command palette](https://www.moldraw.com/docs/settings/how-to-use-the-command-palette/) has **New design** too.
2. Click a tab to switch to it.
3. Click the name of the active tab, or double click any tab, to rename it. Press `Enter` to keep the name or `Esc` to cancel.
4. Click **×** on a tab to close it.

Right click a tab for **Rename** and **Close**.

Closing a tab does not delete the design. MolDraw saves it first, and it stays in My designs. If you close the last tab, MolDraw opens a new **Untitled design**. Your open tabs come back when you reload the page.

## My designs

Click **My designs** at the top left to open the library. Each design shows as a card with a preview.

| Action | How |

| Open | Click the card, or **Open design** |
| Rename | Click **Rename** (pencil) on the card |
| Duplicate | Click **Duplicate** on the card |
| Delete | Click **Delete** on the card, then confirm |
| Download one | Click the download button on the card to save a `.moldraw` file |
| Search | Type in **Search designs…** |
| Grid or list | Click **Grid view** or **List view** |
| New design | Click **New** |

### Work with many designs

1. Click **Select**, then tick the cards you want. **Select all** and **Deselect** help.
2. Click **Duplicate**, **Delete** or **Move to…** to act on all of them.

### Folders

1. Click **New folder**, type a name and click **Create**.
2. Select designs and use **Move to…** to put them in the folder.
3. Click a folder in the list to see only its designs. **All designs** shows everything.
4. To remove a folder, open it and click **Delete folder**.

### Back up everything

Click **Download all**. With **ZIP** on, you get all designs as `.moldraw` files in one ZIP. With ZIP off, each design downloads as its own file.

## Browser and cloud

The notice at the top of My designs reminds you of this. Clearing site data, another browser or a private window can remove designs. See [Privacy and storage](https://www.moldraw.com/docs/devices/privacy-and-where-your-drawings-are-stored/).

## Tips

- Name tabs before you close them. Cards are easier to find by name than by preview.
- Before you clear your browser, click **Download all** with ZIP on.
- To move work to another computer, download the ZIP, then use **File**, **Open** there for each file.

## Questions and answers

**Does closing a tab delete my design?**
No. MolDraw saves the design when you close the tab. Open it again from My designs.

**How do I back up all my MolDraw designs?**
Open My designs, turn on ZIP and click Download all. You get every design as a .moldraw file in one ZIP.

**How do I make a copy of a design?**
Open My designs and click Duplicate on its card. The copy appears as a new card.

**Why are my designs missing in another browser?**
My designs is stored per browser and per site address. Download the designs and open them in the other browser.
